Highlighting and promoting representation of queer people of color in film and visual media.
Throughout History, representation in media for people of color and Queer people has been exponentially lacking. Thanks to the efforts of creators like Jordan Peele, Misha Green, Issa Rae, and Patrick Ian Polk; we are seeing a renaissance of POC representation within Hollywood. we aim to extend that renaissance to a local level by incentivizing film makers in the area to create roles and produce art featuring these communities. Introducing the BLACK RAINBOW FILM FESTIVAL! Festivals are an immersive experience bridging the gap between audience, film makers, and actors alike. We invite your presence to make this experience even more rich.
This is an opportunity to start the conversation about diversity starting from the very inception of the filmmaking process. We challenge filmmakers to approach the writing process with the understanding that people at the intersection of queerness and race have fully realized, three dimensional experiences and those stories deserve to be told. These guidelines aren't meant to restrict but to liberate the creative process by inviting filmmakers to explore perspectives they may have never considered otherwise.
