12:30-3:30pm

Soft Animal & Outshine Adventures are teaming up to "Get Outside for Pride!" with a picnic and paddle boarding trip at Greenway Farms!

What: Beginner-friendly paddle board tour & picnic; 2-hour guided paddle board adventure on North Chickamauga Creek

When: June 18, 2022

  1. Picnic: 12:30 p.m.
  2. Paddle board: 1:30-3:30 p.m

Cost: We’ve put together a variety of options on a sliding scale in an effort to make this event affordable and accessible.

Detailed description:

Explore one of Chattanooga’s scenic waterways and enjoy a leisurely paddle on the calm waters of North Chickamauga Creek with experienced adventure guides on stable inflatable paddle boards.

Outshine Adventures will provide all the paddle board equipment and basic paddling instruction before leading us on a beginner-friendly paddle board tour on North Chickamauga Creek around the Greenway Farm Park. You don’t have to have any prior experience with paddling to participate.

Other information:

– This adventure is best suited for youth ages 13+. Exceptions possible for youth 10+.

– Max people: 12

– Min people: 4

– Weight limit: 300lbs

– Considerations: Will allow individuals with their own paddle craft to join for half price.

– Inherent risk: participants will be required to sign a liability release waiver in order to participate. Minors must have a legal guardian sign for them. Although this is considered a leisure activity, we do request participants be in good physical condition to carry 30lbs for 50 yds, squat, kneel, walk on uneven terrain and accept instruction on how to paddle and maneuver the paddle board.

– Please sign this waiver ahead of the event.

About Outshine Adventures

Outshine Adventures is a queer-owned, women-led company dedicated to providing sustainable eco-tours and immersive outdoor experiences for all! They believe in the health benefits of spending time outside connecting with nature and want to connect everyone with the vibrant outdoor scene in Chattanooga and beyond!

No matter your level of comfort or experience with playing outside, they will inspire you to adventure differently and try something new with their guided eco-tours, inclusive yoga offerings, and camper van rentals.

About Soft Animal

Soft Animal is a new Chattanooga startup dedicated to centering marginalized people through events and learning opportunities — from drag shows to American Sign Language classes. The business grew out of the desire to create safe spaces for people — including Black people, Hispanic and Latin American people, Asian people, Chattanoogans with disabilities and members of the LGBTQ+ community. The queer-owned business is proud to partner with Outshine Adventures and other like-minded organizations throughout Chattanooga.

Note: Soft Animal aims to make most of its events ADA compliant, we don't have the expertise to make that happen for this event. The city of Chattanooga's Therapeutic Recreation Department offers paddle opportunities with adaptive kayaks and qualified staff once a month in the summer for free. More info on that. We welcome additional help, suggestions or connections as we work to make every event ADA compliant.
