Go for a paddle down Lookout Creek while learning about Civil War History!
Join Reflection Riding Arboretum and Nature Center for a guided paddle on Lookout Creek led by Greg Grant and learn all about the Civil War history that occurred on Reflection Riding's campus! You will paddle to the location of Lights Mill, where 3,000 Union soldiers would have crossed Lookout Creek on their way to what will become the "Battle in the Clouds". Special thanks to Randy Whorton of Wild Trails for clearing trees in the creek so that we can paddle out to Lights Mill!
All the necessary equipment for this paddle is provided. No experience is required. Open to ages 7 and older.
As you may know, for the past year damage to the boardwalk caused by the emerald ash borer has meant that canoes, dock, and boat launch have been unavailable to visitors. Reflection Riding Arboretum and Nature Center know that boat access to Lookout Creek is valued by their members, so they are working hard on getting it reopened to the public very soon. The fee for these programs is considered a donation toward getting the boardwalk reopened, and if you would like to help them get the boardwalk opened, please consider making a donation.
In the event of severe weather, programs may have to be canceled.
