Immersion Gallery Event No. 4 - The Art of Darkness

by

Immersion Gallery

5-9pm

Immersion Gallery is Chattanooga's newest Art Space. Once a month, we open our doors for Events, the likes of which you've never seen before.

The Immersion Gallery is Chattanooga's newest Art Event Space. Once a month we open our doors to ticket holders for an evening Event the likes of which they've never seen before! We typically have three to four separate galleries with distinct shows for each Event. Each gallery follows a certain Theme and the artwork and decor in that Gallery reflects that Theme.

We showcase the best in art that the Chattanooga area has to offer - not just painting and sculpture but animation, poetry, literature, dance and improvisational theater and more! We've also featured everything from musicians playing vintage instruments and hand crank Victrolas to Tarot card readers and 30 foot high video games. During our first three Events we've given voice to locals authors, performance artists and nearly a dozen local poets. In the near future, we plan on adding food art, foreign languages, Asian mysticism, operatic voice, electronic music and artistic scavenger hunts.

The Immersion Gallery is not like any other gallery you've ever experienced. We encourage our Guests to look at the artwork in new ways - by touch (when appropriate), in a darkened room with the aid of flashlights, tucked away in nooks and crannies, through copious art demos and hidden in plain sight. We expect our Guests to open cabinets and drawers in search of new objects, art and surprises. We often have docents on hand; sometimes to lead, sometimes to mislead.

We strive to give each Guest to the Immersion Gallery a completely unique experience every time they join us for an Event. One way we accomplish that is through constant change. There is always something new at the Immersion Gallery. Every month, for every new Event, there is new art to be seen in the Galleries. We also do a huge shake up of the Wunderkammer - our anchor Gallery - literally rearranging everything in that space. All of this insures that even if you've seen the Immersion Gallery once, you haven't seen all of the Immersion Gallery.

For April 8 we'll be changing out two of our Galleries to make room for an installation by local artist, Matthew Dutton as well as a salon-style show featuring local creatives of all disciplines from Immersion Gallery, Wanderlinger Brewing and artists driven from Area 61 in December by burst pipes.

We are also working on:

* A "tent revival" with a savage scavenger hunt

* Manipulative women and the messes they make

* Decent docents

* Mellow munchies

* A British diviner who wants to teach you how to tell the future

* Art demos and a make-n-take collage table from our in-house collage Artist, Kim Printz and last but not least

We hope you'll join us for a truly unique experience!

You don't want to miss this one, folks!

As far back as he can remember, Capricorn Studios was calling Eddie 9V. As a kid scanning the sleeves of his favorite vinyl records, this fabled facility in Macon, Georgia, was always the secret ingredient, adding a little grit and honey to every song born on its floor. Capricorn and the bands who blew through it urged the Atlanta guitarist to ditch school at 15, play his fingers bloody throughout the south, and turn apathy into acclaim for early albums Left My Soul in Memphis (2019) and Little Black Flies (2021). In December 2021, the 26-year-old finally put his thumbprint on the studio's mythology, corralling an eleven-strong group of the American South's best roots musicians to track his third album.
