International Polar Bear Day is an annual event celebrated every February 27, to coincide with the time period when polar bear mothers and cubs are sleeping in their dens, and to raise awareness about the conservation status of the polar bear. We are celebrating this incredible animal with our first Save the Polar Bears virtual race! You can choose to complete 1 Mile, 5K, 10K, 13.1 miles or 26.2 miles to run (or walk) in honor of the Polar Bears!
Also, while you're racing to the finish line, you'll be making a real difference too! 15% of every registration fee will be generously donated to Polar Bears International. Their mission is to conserve polar bears and the sea ice they depend on. We also work to inspire people to care about the Arctic, the threats to its future, and the connection of this fragile ecosystem to our global climate.
You will get a medal and bib mailed to you and you can complete your race anytime between January 1 and February 29, 2024! Medals will start shipping out mid-December, if you sign up after that they will ship out within 2 to 5 days of signing up.
What is a virtual race? A virtual race is a race that can be run (or walked) from any location you choose. You can run, jog, or walk on the road, on the trail, on the treadmill, at the gym or on the track (or even at another race). You get to run your own race, at your own pace, and time it yourself. Running and walking on your own, or with friends! And your medal will be shipped directly to you. Complete a virtual 5Ks, 10K, half marathon and more! Each of our races benefits a different charity. We’ve already raised more than $892,045 for charities from running events on this website! We are making a difference…one race at a time.
